Leadership changes bring uncertainty at The King’s Foundation

Date:

King Charles III has faced renewed challenges following the departure of the chief executive of The King’s Foundation. Kristina Murrin CBE stepped down from the role after less than three years, only weeks after the premiere of the Amazon Prime documentary Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision. Her exit followed the earlier departure of the charity’s chair, Dame Ann Limb, who left her position in December.

The charity confirmed that a recruitment process to appoint a new chief executive is under way, with deputy chief executive Emily Cherrington taking on interim leadership responsibilities. Reports in the national press suggested the changes had caused concern at senior levels, with claims of instability within the organisation’s leadership. The Foundation has not commented on those reports beyond its formal statement.

In its announcement, the charity said Ms Murrin left with the thanks and best wishes of the board, citing her role in overseeing a period of expansion. Trustees highlighted developments including international growth, the launch of a new awards programme and a rebranding of the organisation, as well as the production of the recent documentary, which premiered at Windsor Castle.

The leadership changes come during a difficult period for the monarch more broadly. The King’s Foundation, which is based at Dumfries House, focuses on education, sustainability and community regeneration, supporting more than 15,000 students each year. It operates separately from The King’s Trust, the youth charity founded by the King in 1976 when he was Prince of Wales.
