Following their split, Randolph filed court documents accusing Underwood of stalking and harassment, including claims that a tracking device had been placed on her car. The restraining order was later dropped. In April 2021, Underwood addressed the situation during an interview on Good Morning America, where he apologised for his actions and acknowledged causing emotional distress, though he did not directly respond to each allegation.
Underwood later spoke to Variety, stating that his decision to come out as gay was not intended to alter public perception of his past behaviour. He emphasised that he did not want to avoid accountability and acknowledged that his actions at the time were wrong, particularly attempts to control situations while struggling with his identity.
