Camila Morrone reflects on growing up with Al Pacino and her role in the night manager

Date:

Camila Morrone has described being “in awe” of Al Pacino as a child. The 28-year-old actress’s mother, Argentine star Lucila Sola, was in a relationship with the Hollywood legend between 2008 and 2018. Morrone has said she felt “fortunate” to grow up “in the presence” of the acting titan, whom she refers to as her ‘stepfather’, despite Pacino never marrying her mother. She told The Times: “How lucky am I to have known him and to have been raised in his presence? I mean, he’s the (Lionel) Messi of my industry. I think I’ll always look back on my childhood and be in awe that I was in the presence of someone like him.”

Morrone stars alongside Tom Hiddleston in the second series of the television show The Night Manager and expressed her delight at her character’s impact on screen. She portrays Colombian businesswoman Roxana Bolanos and told The Sun: “As women, we’re very good and intuitive at knowing who we have to be, and when and at what time, and then switching—being these chameleons. My character’s this hustler, she’s the smartest person in any room, which I love, and she has all the men eating out of the palm of her hand. It was really great to figure out what her motivation was in playing with the big guys.”

Morrone, who previously dated film star Leonardo DiCaprio, admitted she was a fan of The Night Manager before joining the cast. She recalled: “I’m supposed to be doing my lines, and instead I’m binge-watching all six episodes, which ended up paying off in the long run.” Prior to this, she appeared in the musical drama series Daisy Jones and the Six as Camila Alvarez and has expressed hope for a second series, despite the storylines being resolved at the conclusion of the ten episodes.

She told E! News: “We all want it. Listen, I think we’re all so proud of the work that we did. I think that we had an incredible first season. There’s a lot of story left that could be told. It moves a lot of people. It was a really beautiful show. We’re just grateful to keep going on this ride and still be here talking about it, representing it.”
