Prince Harry hopes for reunion between King Charles and his children

Date:

The Duke of Sussex is reportedly hopeful of a reunion between King Charles and his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. According to The Times, Prince Harry is said to be open to an invitation for family time in Norfolk this summer, potentially including his wife, the Duchess of Sussex. Such a meeting would mark the first contact between the King and his grandchildren in several years.

King Charles last saw Archie and Lilibet in June 2022, during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has not returned to the United Kingdom since September 2022, when she attended the Queen’s funeral. Sources suggest that an invitation to Sandringham, the royal estate in Norfolk, would be welcomed, although arrangements remain uncertain.

Security considerations are understood to be a key factor in any potential visit. Prince Harry has previously stated that he does not feel it is safe to bring his family to the UK without armed police protection. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex lost access to this level of security after stepping back from their roles as working members of the Royal Family and relocating to the United States in 2020.

The possibility of a reunion emerges amid a busy schedule for the King, who has announced several Buckingham Palace garden parties later this year. These include events in May and June, as well as a gathering at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. Any potential meeting would depend on both security arrangements and the availability of those involved.
