Hillary Clinton strongly criticised Republican congressman James Comer while answering questions in an investigation related to Jeffrey Epstein. The former US secretary of state accused the House Oversight Committee chairman of conducting an unserious inquiry and attempting to divert attention from former president Donald Trump’s alleged links to the case.

In prepared remarks reported during the session, Clinton argued she had been compelled to testify despite having no information that would assist the investigation. She suggested the move was intended to distract from questions surrounding Trump’s actions and criticised the committee for failing to question the current president directly under oath regarding references to him in Epstein-related documents.
Clinton’s deposition followed months of negotiations after she received a subpoena from the committee. The questioning took place in Chappaqua, New York. Former president Bill Clinton, whose past association with Epstein has previously been reported, is expected to give a separate deposition later in the week as part of the same inquiry.

During her remarks, Clinton said she had no knowledge of Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell’s criminal activities and stated she did not recall meeting Epstein or travelling on his aircraft. She also accused Republican members of politicising the investigation and criticised the committee for holding no public hearings despite claims of transparency.
