Ben Affleck reunites 1990s sitcom stars for Super Bowl advert

Date:

Ben Affleck has enlisted a host of iconic 1990s sitcom actors for a high-profile Dunkin’ advertisement aired during the 2026 Super Bowl. The commercial, titled Good Will Dunkin’, draws inspiration from Affleck’s 1997 film Good Will Hunting and is framed as a never-broadcast sitcom pilot supposedly set in 1995. Affleck takes on a reworked version of the gifted South Boston character originally played by Matt Damon.

The advert imagines the accidental creation of iced coffee inside a Dunkin’ shop in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and features a cast packed with familiar television faces. Among those appearing are Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc from Friends, Jason Alexander from Seinfeld, Ted Danson from Cheers, Alfonso Ribeiro from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Jaleel White from Family Matters and Jasmine Guy from A Different World. The script leans heavily on recognisable catchphrases and visual nods to 1990s television culture.

A notable moment comes at the end of the advert when Aniston’s character introduces a new boyfriend following a split from Affleck’s Will, revealing former American football quarterback Tom Brady. The scene blends celebrity cameo humour with pop culture references, reinforcing the nostalgic tone that runs throughout the campaign. The advert marks Affleck’s fourth time directing a Dunkin’ commercial for the Super Bowl.

Dunkin’ executives have said the campaign was designed to blur the lines between comfort television and broader pop culture history. The advert also serves as a reminder of Affleck’s longstanding connection to Good Will Hunting, for which he and Damon won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1998. The 2026 Super Bowl took place at Levi’s Stadium in California, where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots, with Bad Bunny headlining the half-time show.
