Series of explosions reported across iran amid rising tensions

Date:

Iran has experienced multiple explosions in recent days, with at least four people reported killed. The incidents follow heightened regional tensions, including threats from former US President Donald Trump to launch strikes over the deaths of thousands of protesters. It remains unclear whether the explosions are linked to any US military action.

Authorities have moved quickly to dismiss claims that a Revolutionary Guard chief was specifically targeted. One blast in Ahvaz, a city near the Iraqi border, resulted in four fatalities, while another explosion struck Bandar Abbas, a southern port city. An eight-storey building was heavily damaged, with reports and images showing significant destruction to its lower floors. Several people were injured, and vehicles and a local shop were also affected.

Iranian media have suggested that some of the explosions may have been caused by “gas leaks”. Additional blasts were reported in Shahr-e Jadid-e Parand, Karaj, Tabriz, Nowshahr, Hashtgerd, and Qeshm. The official IRNA news agency confirmed the injuries and damage but provided few further details on the causes.
