Kelvin Fletcher expands income through rural holiday letting

Date:

Kelvin Fletcher has diversified his income by renting out a renovated cottage on the grounds of his home in Cheshire, generating an estimated £78,000 a year. The former Emmerdale actor charges around £1,500 per week for Stag Cottage, a luxury property featuring high-end furnishings, a hot tub and a grand piano, which is already fully booked for the current year.

Fletcher’s primary occupation has shifted in recent years towards farming, which he runs with his wife Liz in the Peak District. In addition to rental income, the couple have benefited from television projects documenting their rural lifestyle, including ITV programmes Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure and Fletchers’ Family Farm.

Despite portraying a farmer on Emmerdale for two decades, Fletcher has previously acknowledged that the role offered little practical preparation for real-life agriculture. He has said that the farming elements of the soap were largely incidental, leaving him without transferable skills when he chose to leave acting and pursue a full-time agricultural life.

The farming venture has since expanded to a 120-acre holding with a wide range of livestock and is described by the couple as an ongoing learning process rather than a planned career move. Fletcher has characterised the experience as adopting farming as a way of life, shaped gradually through hands-on experience and family involvement rather than formal expertise.
